Český Krumlov in the South Bohemia, is amazing and absolutely should not be missed on a trip to Czech Republic. With just over 15,000 inhabitants, this small town is a perfect fairy tale town. The scenery seems to have come out of a tale but it is real and it perfectly combines a castle, narrow streets, beautiful buildings and a river.
Old Český Krumlov is a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1992. Situated on the banks of the Vltava river, the town was built around a 13th-century castle with Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque elements. It is an outstanding example of a small central European medieval town whose architectural heritage has remained intact thanks to its peaceful evolution over more than five centuries. - in: https://whc.unesco.org/en/list/617/
The castle, the second largest in the Czech Republic, is one of the most important in central Europe. It was founded in the 13th century, but greatly expanded and renovated over the 14th to 19th centuries, considering that it changed owners many times.
The visit to the outside area and the castle gardens is free. You can get a sense of the size and magnificence of the property. There is also free access to the public, right at the entrance, to the moat where three domesticated pet bears live. Something worth paying for is the climb to the Tower, from there you have some of the best views of the city.
