"The 25th April Bridge is a suspension bridge connecting the city of Lisbon, capital of Portugal, to the municipality of Almada on the left bank of the Tagus river. It was inaugurated in 1966 and a train platform was added in 1999. It is often compared to the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, USA, due to their similarities and same construction company. With a total length of 2,277 m, it is the 19th largest suspension bridge in the world." - in: wikipedia
Another card from my portuguese wishlist sent by Ana "ninocas". "This is the Arraiolos Castle and it's construction started in the XII century. The castle was getting abandoned in the XIV century because the place was cold, windy and unpleasant to live. The castle was used as a base for several military expeditions against the Kingdom of Castela (Spain). At the end of the XVI century the castle was still inhabitated but there were some new homes in the nearby hills. In 1613 the castle was in an advanced state of ruin. From 1640 to 1656 it was remodelled for strategic reasons but it soon fell into ruin.At the beginning of the XX century it was classified as National Monument and all the walls were renewed and fixed." - in: http://www.waymarking.com/waymarks/WMX11
Finally a card sent by Ana Cristina "daphne486", my 1st card from Caminha, a town in the north of Portugal. The card shows part of the walls and details of the Main Church from the XV century.
