On a recent trip to the Spiti Valley, my penpal Sachin took some pictures that are now beautiful postcards. This one from Dhankhar village is the 1st of many to follow, she said.

Dhankar Village is a large high village which used to be the capital of the Spiti Valley in Himachal Pradesh, India. It is at an altitude of 3,894 metres (12,774 feet) above sea level, between the towns of Tabo and Kaza, Himachal Pradesh.
