Every postcrosser knows that Postcrossing's anniversary is on July the 14th. Like the previous years, a group of portuguese postcrossers had a meeting to celebrate Postcrossing, postcards and friendship. The group was small, only Vitória "blicas blocas" & husband, José "PilotOne" and Ninocas & family, but they had lots of fun. They visited the Mafra Palace, Ericeira and the José Franco's Village.
Vitória sent me this view of the Algodio Beach in Ericeira.
José also sent me an Ericeira card.
And Ninocas sent me this card of the José Franco's Village, which is located in Sobreiro, a village about 4 km northwest of Mafra on the road to Ericeira.
This is a miniature village created by the Portuguese sculptor José Franco. The village is complete with miniature figures and includes houses, farms, a working windmill, and a waterfall, even his old classroom, with small wooden desks, the teacher’s bookcase and slate. Above all, it recreates the typical architecture of the region and reminds us what life was like in rural Mafra.
