Cacela Velha is a village located in the municipality of Vila Real de Santo António. The village is situated on top of a hill with a view to the easternmost lagoon of the Ria Formosa.
Cacela Velha's church was built in1518 on the ruins of a 13th century medieval construction. It was also damaged by the earthquake of 1755 and it was rebuilt in 1795.
