Plaza de Armas with the Government Palace.
"Lima is the capital and largest city of Peru. Lima was founded by Spanish conquistador Francisco Pizarro on January 18, 1535, as the City of the Kings. It became the most important city in the Spanish Viceroyalty of Peru and, after the Peruvian War of Independence, the capital of the Republic of Peru. Today around one-third of the Peruvian population lives in its metropolitan area.
The Historic centre of Lima was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1988 due to its large number of historical buildings dating from the Spanish colonial era." - in wikipedia.

"Situated in the Peruvian Andes, Cuzco developed, under the Inca ruler Pachacutec, into a complex urban centre with distinct religious and administrative functions. It was surrounded by clearly delineated areas for agricultural, artisan and industrial production. When the Spaniards conquered it in the 16th century, they preserved the basic structure but built Baroque churches and palaces over the ruins of the Inca city." in: http://whc.unesco.org/en/list/273

Lausanne - Switzerland

These are just 2 of the cards my brother brought me from Lausanne while he was there with our family.

"Lausanne is a city in the French-speaking part of Switzerland, situated on the shores of Lake Geneva and facing Évian-les-Bains (France) and with the Jura mountains to its north. Lausanne is located some 50 km (31 mi) northeast of Geneva. It is the capital of the canton of Vaud and of the district of Lausanne." - in: wikipedia.

"Both impressive and fragile, the Cathedral of the French-speaking city of Lausanne is commonly described as Switzerland's finest and most representative example of Gothic architecture. Covered wooden stairs lead up to the Cathedral from Place de La Palud, the most typical square of Lausanne. A walk around the well-proportioned exterior walls give a first impression of what an architectural jewel the building is, with its most distinctive feature, a giant Gothic stained glass rose, overlooking the lake on its south façade.
The building was consecrated in 1275 as a place of Catholic worship but its initial structure remains unfinished to this day. For centuries a large crowd of pilgrims flocked to its doors and came to kneel in front of a golden and reputedly miraculous statue of the Virgin that gave her name to Notre Dame de Lausanne."
