The construction of the original castle dates back to 14th century. The castle experienced many changes in its long history: theft and
depredation during the Saxonian feud in 1517, ravages during the thirty year
war, destruction following a fire in the year 1893 and finally partial
destruction by aircraft bombs in the second World War.
The Lütetsburg castle today is a new construction that was built on the
foundation walls in 1517 in the modern style. The four-wing construction was
built in the years 1956 to 1962 and is today the residence of the family zu Inn-
